One More Amazing Event: Stories of Queer Africa - April 1, 2010

greetings, beloved community ~

many many thanks to ALL of you who came out to the Vagina Monologues and the HERstory Concert last week.  both events were wonderful... due in large part to your presence and positivity.  thank you!!

i am writing now to let youall know about the third and final big event being put on this semester by feminists in action (fia).  in truth, fia has served in a supportive role to the organizing genius that is moya bailey... thank you, moya, for all you have done to make this next event happen.

so.  next thursday, april 1 (no joke, y'all), we are hosting None on Record: Stories of Queer Africa.  we are very excited to host two queer folks from africa who will speak on a panel about their experiences living in - and leaving - their countries of origin due to their sexual orientation.  for more information about the group and the project, please click here:  http://noneonrecord.com/blog/

the deets:
when: thursday, april 1 @ 7pm
where: harland cinema, dobbs university center (DUC), emory university **
why: to learn about others' experiences; to learn more about the world and ourselves
who: YOU!  come on and bring three friends
how much: freeeeeee... word!!

attached, please find a flyer for the event and a map of the university and the spot where the event is.  it is at the same spot as the HERstory concert.  parking directions below.

**  the best place to park is the Peavine Deck (29 Eagle Row, Atlanta, 30322).  on the map, this parking lot is represented by 3262 & 3270.  to find the Dobbs University Center (DUC), the main student center where the Harland Cinema is located, exit the deck onto Eagle Row and walk down the small hill towards Dickey Drive.  take a left on Dickey Drive and walk up the hill.  the soccer fields will be on your left.  continue on up the hill to the DUC.  on the map, the DUC is represented by 1010.

for handicap accessibility, i suggest getting dropped off at the DUC.  i do not know of any handicap parking spaces very close.  you can do this by turning off Clifton Road onto Pierce Drive, and then taking a right onto Means Drive at the stop sign.  all of these roads are marked on the map.

looking so forward to seeing you there.

in peace,
jillian
